Sampleeye

Sampleeye, the platform behind our sample

Sampleeye is the sampling platform that sits behind our fieldwork. It sends people to surveys, screens them before they arrive, and records how every start ends.

  • Project and quotas
  • Screening first
  • Outcome sent back
  • One record per start
A drawn Sampleeye project for dog-owner research: outcome counts and a start log where each start ends as complete, screened out, over quota, security terminate or drop-out.

Why it matters

One record for every start

A survey can draw people from more than one place, and each place reports results in its own way. Counts drift apart, and matching them up at the end is slow. Sampleeye keeps a single record for each person who starts a survey, from the first screening question to the final outcome.

How a project moves

How a project moves through Sampleeye

One start, followed from the first screening question to the payment.

  1. 01

    Set up the project

The project gets its survey link, its target audience and its quotas.

  2. 02

    Screen before the survey

Basic screening runs in Sampleeye, so people who clearly do not fit are stopped before they load your survey. In the PocketsFull app, members see these questions before a survey opens.

  3. 03

    Send the outcome back

When a respondent leaves your survey, Sampleeye is told how it ended: complete, screened out, over quota, stopped by a check, or dropped out.

  4. 04

    Log and pay

Each outcome is logged against that start. For PocketsFull members, the outcome decides what they are paid.

Outcomes split by side

Outcomes recorded for each start

Each start ends one way. Results from Sampleeye’s screening and from your survey are recorded apart, so you can see which side turned a person away.

Example

Example: dog owners for an agency survey

A research agency hosts its own survey and needs 500 completes from US adults who own a dog. It adds Sampleeye's return links to the survey. Sampleeye asks about dog ownership first, so people without a dog never load the agency's survey. Some dog owners are then turned away by the agency's own screener; those are logged as client-side screen-outs, apart from Sampleeye's. When fieldwork ends, the agency and Sampleeye work from the same list of outcomes.
