Methods we cover

The methods behind the studies, in plain words

Ten of the methods our studies are built on: what each one answers, how it works, and which studies use it.

Keep scrolling to move along the row

01

Which idea should we take forward?

Monadic concept test

Each person sees one idea and answers the same questions about it. Plain scores from 0 to 100 lead to one of four verdicts: Promising; Wanted, not new; New, not wanted yet; or Not ready. We suggest at least 200 people per idea (300 to compare groups) and give no verdict below 100.

Used inConcept testingProduct testingIdea screening

02

What price range will buyers accept?

Van Westendorp

Four price questions: too cheap, a bargain, getting expensive and too expensive. Where the lines cross gives the range of prices buyers see as fair, and where the price starts to look wrong.

Used inPricing research

03

How fast does demand fall as the price goes up?

Gabor-Granger

People say whether they would buy at set prices. You see how demand falls as the price rises, and the price where revenue peaks.

Used inPricing researchMarket sizing & demand forecasting

04

What matters most on a long list?

MaxDiff (best-worst scaling)

People pick the most and the least important item from small sets. A long list comes out ranked, with clear gaps between items, instead of everything looking important.

Used inMaxDiffClaims testingMessage testingIdea screening

05

Which line-up reaches the most people?

TURF

Total unduplicated reach and frequency finds the small set of flavors, products or features that appeals to the largest number of different people.

Used inTURFMaxDiff

07

Where do we lose buyers?

Brand funnel

Aware, would consider, prefer, bought recently, would recommend: asked in a fixed order for your brand and your rivals, so the stage where you lose the most people stands out.

Used inBrand funnel & KPI snapshotBrand health tracking

08

Would customers recommend us, and why?

Net Promoter Score

A 0 to 10 question splits customers into promoters, passives and detractors. Every score comes with the reason behind it, so you can see what to fix first.

Used inCustomer satisfaction & NPSJourney mapping

09

Which groups sit inside the market?

Segmentation

People are grouped by what they need, what they believe and how they behave. Each group is sized, profiled and named, with a simple way to spot them again.

Used inSegmentationUsage & attitude

10

Why did they answer that way?

Video answers with AI follow-ups

People answer on camera inside the survey and an AI interviewer asks up to three follow-ups. Each answer is checked (live person, light, length, words, relevance and attention from 0 to 1), transcribed and grouped into themes with a sentiment bar.
